What time of day am I?

The very wonderful Dale (http://dalef.blogspot.com/) has a thing going on at hers about what time of day you are. Each time carries a personal profile with it. I took the test, and it assigned me as "Sunrise", which didn't quite do it for me. I made up my own:

I am indeterminate.
Of a hybrid time of day, fluid and blurred.
Not one thing nor another, seduced first by the excitement of the night, then yearning for the security of an early night in a warm bed.
Seeking adventure and travel, but so often content with a DVD, a glass of red and a sofa.
Gregarious and social, yet insular and private.
Bathing happily in sunshine while longing for the sting of cold wind on red cheeks.
Spiritual after a fashion, but shackled both by stubborn agnosticism and too much good fortune to provide the impetus to explore more deeply.
Torn between the brutal blue-grey beauty of the Australian bush and the lush green of the English countryside.
Loving the company of friends and family, but relishing solitude.
Longing to write, but reluctant to be exposed.

What a mess, eh?

Your not a mess at all!, infact you sound perfectly balanced, with a sense of self along side a sense of adventure...
I like how you did your own personal one, it's much more accurate..
P.S-I love the sting of a cold wind too..

a wonderful, beautiful perfect melding of sunshine and grey, cool wind and warm sun, and gregarious extrovertedness and peaceful, refilling solitude...

You have a fine wit, Margie, and a wonderful way with the words. There are several parallels I am familiar with in this neat biog you have deftly crafted, which makes me gently whisper encouragement for you to give in to the longing. Next time I’ll be shouting. Write, indeed.

Be lucky,
P

Oh no way are you a mess.
I always quote Walt Whitman (I am not very literate, SADLY but that man touched my soul deeply, thanks to a wonderful high school English teacher named Ms. Diana).
It's from Song of Myself: "Do I contradict myself, very well, I contradict myself. I am rich. I contain multitudes."
That line always sets me at ease because we as humans are far too complex to ever be "black or white."

You are a very together woman and a wonderful mom to boot. It's good that you are private. I can be too much of a blabber mouth/wear-my-heart-on-my-sleeve kind of gal and it annoys me to no end!

I can relate to everything you wrote (except the agnosticism part. I shun organized religion, but I am deeply spiritual).

I echo what Paul says. He is much more eloquent than me, but I really admire the way you write. Your style is simply profound.

Please don't apologize about not visiting, I am SUCH a bad blogger, I need to make the rounds. I have been very selfish that way lately.
I try to slowly make my way around but I get distracted very easily!

I think you are right - my neck of the woods does look a bit European. I love the back alleys. If there are back alleys in the states, you DON'T want to be there, believe me!

Take care Margie!
Hope you are well.

oh my goodness... the timtams are brilliant, and Ian and both had a strong pull to childhood when we tasted them... mmmm... you have hooked me, and I must now head straight to Australia and hunt for more! The Cherry Ripes are scrumptious as well, and my son is particularly enamoured with those! And yes, I have had choc covered macs, but these ones take the cake!
Oh you are a sweet and darling friend and thanks thanks and thanks again!

I'd say you are a study in contrasts Margie.. but what's wrong with that??

I'm a midnight and true to the profile... or what I recall from it at least. (Didn't say anything about no short term memory losses.. thyroid disease is a b***h :P )

Thank you all so much for your lovely and thoughtful comments - this is just a flying visit on the way to bed; I haven't really been around since Thursday or so and it'll be Thursday again before I get another chance for a quick catch-up. I miss you!

Mads - as for you, well I might write, but just now I'm too busy running around for you and your FIENDS! (That's a joke not a typo). Just as well you are all lovely.

Hi Margie!

Too bad the weather conditions kept us from tracking Emma down.
It would have been fun.

How are the travelling teens doing?
Are they home yet?

Hope all is well with you and yours!

Margie,
I don't know if anyone ever answered your question, but a mukluk is an Inuit furry high boot for extreme winter weather. Just google the word mukluk and you'll see some pretty good examples on the top three websites. Mine look like I've stripped the backs off two tomcats. They're also proving quite handy this week as we've been hit by 30cm of snow since Friday. :)

I am glad Anne-Marie brought up Mukluk, as it means something else to me. The Irish Mukluk (pronounced Mook-Luke) is not an overweight cow of two heads, or a substitute swear word for priests, but a deep quiet stare, with equal amounts of silent rage and mortification behind it, and one usually gives it to someone at a party when they are revealing some awkward truth about you to the gathered guffawing public. For example, no matter how much my mother might beg to differ, tales of bedwetting are not cute. That warrants a mukluk.

It is also fair to point out, since I have mentioned her already, that my mother would warn you not to believe a single word I have written here.

Hi there dearest darling Marige (hehe), just dropping in to say hi now I'm back from my travels. As I said to Dale, my body is here but my spirit lingers down south. Once I'm all parts are back in sync, I'll be catching up properly, but for now hugs to you. xxx

It's been such a long time since I've visited as life has just taken me away from the computer. Hope you are well.

My neice (9) and nephew (12) from Perth WA are here experiencing their first snow and they just love it. I can't wait to see them.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season in the summer warmth of down under!
